SOUTHERN COLORADO - On December 18, 2024, Governor Polis toured The Village at Solid Rock, a 77-unit Affordable housing complex in Colorado Springs.

“Expanding housing opportunities Coloradans can afford is critical to lowering costs and helping families thrive. Today, in Colorado Springs I toured 77 units of new housing that offer options closer to job centers so families have more time to explore everything that makes Colorado Springs a great place to live,” said Governor Polis.

Earlier this year, Governor Polis signed historic housing legislation to create more housing near transit lines, give Coloradans the freedom to build Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) on their property, and eliminate unnecessary parking mandates that raise housing costs, and get rid of discriminatory occupancy limits. All of this has helped reduce the cost for Colordans and create more housing opportunities.

Governor Polis also joined Pueblo Mayor Heather Graham at the Real Time Crime Center, a facility that helps improve police response time by utilizing cameras to obtain real time observations of the crime scene to expedite the investigation process. The Real Time Crime Center has received $1 million in grants from the Department of Local Affairs to keep Pueblo and its residents safe.

“In Colorado, we are focused on preventing crime and helping our law enforcement to quickly catch and detain criminals. The Real Time Crime Center, is an innovative facility that is helping to decrease crime rates across Southern Colorado, and keep our communities safer,” said Governor Polis.

“Today was an opportunity to showcase the capabilities of the RTCC and explain to Governor Polis how the future investment of the DOLA grant will expand ShotSpotter technology,” said Mayor of Pueblo Heather Graham. “We are grateful for DOLA’s continued investment in our community. We are also proud of the success we have already experienced while utilizing this technology to solve crime and improve police response for a safer Pueblo.”
