Governor Ron DeSantis Appoints Three to the Council for Early Grade Success

TALLAHASSEE, FL - On December 6 2024, Governor Ron DeSantis announced the appointment of  Lindsey Brown and the reappointment of Maria Alba-Quesada and Meghan Collins to the Council for Early Grade Success.  

Lindsey Brown
Brown is the Vice Chancellor for Literacy Achievement for the Florida Department of Education’s Division of Public Schools. Previously, she served as the Executive Director of Just Read, Florida! and the Assistant Principal for Leon County Public Schools. Brown earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Central Florida and her master’s degree in educational leadership and administration from Florida State University.  

Maria Alba-Quesada 
Alba-Quesada is the Academic Director of Curriculum and Instruction for South Prep Scholars Academy. Previously, she served as the Principal of South Prep Scholars Academy and the Miami Community Charter School. Alba-Quesada earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Barry University, her master’s degree in leadership of educational organizations from American Intercontinental University, and is currently working towards her doctorate in higher education from Concordia University Chicago.  

Meghan Collins
Collins is the Special Strategic Initiatives Director for the Florida Department of Children and Families. Previously, she served as the Executive Staff Director and the Director of Communications for the Florida Department of Education. Collins earned her bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Louisiana State University.
