On Friday, April 25, 2025, Governor Kevin Stitt announced his relay team for the 2025 Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon’s annual Governor’s Relay Challenge, inviting Oklahomans from across the state to lace up and join the fun — and maybe even beat the Governor’s team.

This year’s team theme is “Make Oklahoma Healthy Again,” reflecting Governor Stitt’s commitment to promoting a healthier and more active Oklahoma. The message mirrors a growing national movement — “Make America Healthy Again” — that encourages personal responsibility, fitness, and stronger, healthier families across the country.

“There’s nothing like the camaraderie, energy, and purpose of the Memorial Marathon,” said Governor Stitt. “This is my seventh year doing the Relay Challenge, and it’s an honor to run alongside so many Oklahomans who are passionate about honoring the victims, survivors, and first responders of April 19, 1995 — and to do it in a way that also promotes a healthier Oklahoma.”

Running alongside Governor Stitt in the 2025 Relay Challenge:

• Ryan Schoppe, a five-time First Team All-American, four-time Big 12 champion and 2024 Indoor National Champion from Oklahoma State University.
• Dr. Trevor Richardson, Director of Counseling and Sports Psychology with Oklahoma State University.
• Danielle Sievers, a three-time All-American, two-time Big 12 champion, and three-time national champion gymnast from the University of Oklahoma.

The Governor’s Relay Challenge is open to any quarter marathon relay team with four participants. All qualifying teams that sign up and participate are automatically entered to compete against the Governor’s time. Teams that finish faster than the Governor’s team will receive an exclusive “I Beat the Gov” T-shirt mailed after race day.
