9:00 AM - Noon: Dutch Oven Cooking Demonstration

Jack Schmidt will be showing off his skills of cooking in a Dutch Oven. He will give hints and tips of cooking in these magnificent vessels.

While most of us use a handwritten recipe, Jack recites poems to help him remember how to make his creations. While cooking on a wagon train after retirement, he got to where he couldn't remember the recipes. Jack recalls that he was standing by the bed of the wagon with the flour and buttermilk trying to impress his audience with his culinary magic. In that moment, his mind had gone blank, and he had forgotten all his measurements. So that day on the wagon, he started reciting a poem about biscuits and that led to other recipe poems.

Join Jack and see what tempting vittles he will be cooking. You’ll probably get to sample them too!

This is a ticketed event. Tickets are $25 per person (kids 12 and under get in free).
