Guilford County Schools Reminder and Update: This Week

NEW CommUNITY Celebration – Southwest Elementary’s PTA is hosting a Black History Month CommUNITY Celebration. The event is a culmination of a month of in-school activities and will feature student work and door decorations. There will be food trucks, a dance performance, crafts and the presentation of the school Unity Chain. The event is from 5:30 p.m.–7:30 p.m in the gym.

REMINDER - Eastern High Excellence Expo – Eastern High will be hosting an Excellence Expo in honor of Black History Month. The expo will be a fair and a seminar celebrating Black History, Culture, Excellence, Unity, & Togetherness. The guest speaker will be PJ Hairston, a former Charlotte Hornets Basketball Player and Guilford County Schools alumni. The evening will also feature job & career coaches, fraternity & sorority organizations, and MUCH MORE! The event is free and starts at 5:30 p.m.

NEW Culture Day – Students at the Middle College at GTCC Jamestown will host an event to celebrate the diverse cultures that make up the school’s community. The event will feature displays of traditional clothing, artifacts and crafts. As well as food tastings and workshops.

The event is from 4:00 p.m.- 5:00 p.m. in AT 140 located on the lower level of the Sears Applied Technology Building on the GTCC Jamestown campus.
