Suspicious activity on your credit card? Receiving unfamiliar bills? Tax return filed in someone else's name? These may be signs that you're a victim of identity theft. Identity theft happens when someone steals your personal or financial information and uses it without your permission to commit fraud and other types of crimes. It can destroy your credit and ruin your good name.
In recognition of Identity Theft Awareness Week, an investigator with Pinellas County Consumer Protection is hosting this free seminar and will speak about how to detect identity theft, protect against it, and how to recover if you fall victim.
