Having built up CMPD after a retirement wave, Chief Ron Lawrence will himself retire

After 35 years in law enforcement Lawrence, 55, plans to retire on June 27 — just shy of his 4-year anniversary with the city of Costa Mesa. He hopes his successor can see the human side of policing.
