What better way for the B&O to celebrate the holidays than with trains! On select days November through December, come to the Museum to see festive model train layouts, enjoy the holiday decor, get photos with Santa, take a ride on the Reindeer Railway, and so much more!

Santa's Winter Village
Nestled in the B&O's spacious Roundhouse, Santa's Winter Village is a holiday wonderland with lots of festive fun for your little ones! Visitors to Santa's Winter Village will get to write letters to Santa, color wooden train ornaments, build a snowman figurine, and more!

Holiday Model Layouts
Enjoy the classic holiday tradition of model trains by coming to see our festive O Scale layout in the Roundhouse, as well our Bank of America Model Train Gallery, G Scale Outdoor Train Garden, and HO Scale model layout.

Santa's Sleigh Ride
While you're here, don't miss hopping aboard Santa's Sleigh Ride! Located in the backyard of the Museum, visitors can purchase tickets at the ride location or Admissions.

Daytime Reindeer Railway Train Rides

Get festive on the first mile! This holiday season, you can take a daytime holiday train ride along the nation's first mile of commercial railroad. The train will be all decked out for the season and children will receive reindeer antlers!

Our holiday kickoff weekend just got even better!  
Kick off your holiday shopping on November 23rd and 24th from 11:00 am to 3:30 pm with local vendors surrounded by historic rolling stock and lots of festive cheer! Local businesses will be on-site with unique gifts that are sure to please. Be sure to bring your shopping bags and get ready to shop ‘till you drop!

Photos with Santa Claus

No holiday season is complete until you've taken photos with Santa! As part of Holiday Festival of Trains, visitors will have the opportunity to take a photo with Santa Claus on select dates.

Santa will be here for photos Nov. 22, Dec. 5 and Dec. 23!

10:30am - Holiday Toddler Time

Our final Toddler Time event of the year will be full of holiday fun!
Come make crafts, sing carols, and take pictures with Santa as we get into the Christmas spirit. We'll also have a special appearance from Mrs. Claus for a reading of a Christmas story, There's a Moose on the Christmas Caboose.

6:00pm - 8:00pm - Stuff the Train Dance Party

This holiday season, we're joining forces with the Greater Chesapeake Charitable Foundation, E.C. Pops, The Five Arrows Media, and DJ Kopec to collect toys for children in local hospitals, schools, and shelters.

In support of the Stuff the Train Toy Drive, join DJ Kopec for a fun, all-ages Holiday Dance Party in the Roundhouse of the B&O Railroad Museum! Bring new, unwrapped toys for kids of all ages, from infants to young adults. Enjoy visits with Santa, special guests and more!

Join the B&O Railroad Museum and Emma's Tea Spot for a memorable New Year's celebration like no other. Afternoon Tea & A Toast promises a blend of sophistication and festive cheer in the beauty of the 1884 Baldwin Roundhouse. Dress to impress in your finest festive attire and get ready for an afternoon of fun!  

At 1:00 pm, embark on a charming journey aboard the Mile One Express to experience the nostalgia of rail travel before indulging in a selection of fine teas, freshly baked scones, and a variety of savory and sweet treats.

As the afternoon draws to a close, raise a glass with fellow guests and enjoy celebratory champagne as we toast to the arrival of the New Year!

Climb aboard The Polar Express for a Christmas memory you'll cherish forever! Dressed in your pajamas, kick off this two-hour immersive experience with a live performance of the Hot Chocolate song and dance, and receive the First Gift of Christmas, a silver sleigh bell, from Santa! Upon your arrival at the North Pole, his helpers will greet you and invite you to enjoy crafts, make s'mores, shop for themed goodies, and have your picture taken with Santa!Climb aboard The Polar Express for a Christmas memory you'll cherish forever! Only The Polar Express Train Ride ticket holders will be admitted those evenings at the time on their ticket.
