DES MOINES - Iowa Democratic Party Chair Rita Hart released the following statement regarding tonight’s State House District 78 special election results:

“Tonight Angel Ramirez,  nonprofit co-founder and community leader, won the election to represent House District 78. Her fit with the district, her character, her hard work, and the overwhelming support of Democrats who stepped up to help organize in Linn County made this possible,” said Iowa Democratic Party Chair Rita Hart. “I’d like to thank Ramirez for her readiness to represent her constituents, and to stand up for the rights and prosperity of all Iowans. The scale of our victory tonight shows that as long as Democrats run candidates who understand and fight for their communities, we can win elections across the state. There’s more work to be done, but tonight we can rest assured that things are looking a little brighter. We won this election in good shape. Tomorrow we  get ready for the next.”
