3:30 p.m - 6:00 p.m: Screening of Outerlands + Q&A w/ Director Oxman, Actor Dillon at Granoff Martinos Auditorium
IFF is thrilled to present a screening of Outerlands, followed by a talkback with the film's director Elena Oxman and actor Asia Kate Dillon. A gig worker in San Francisco balances multiple jobs, including dealing party drugs. When their crush asks them to watch her daughter, what starts as temporary childcare evolves into an unexpected journey of self-discovery and healing.

Raphael Matthew Bob-Waksberg is an American comedian, writer, producer, actor, and voice actor. He is best known as the creator and showrunner of the Netflix animated comedy series BoJack Horseman, for which he received four Critics' Choice Television Awards and was nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards.

5:00 p.m - 6:00 p.m: A Conversation with Kirsten Johnson '87 at Granoff Martinos Auditorium
Kirsten Johnson '87's Dick Johnson is Dead won the Jury Prize for Innovation in Nonfiction Storytelling at Sundance 2020. Kirsten went on to win a Primetime Emmy for Best Directing of the film, Critic's Choice Award for Best Documentary and the Cinema Eye Award for Best Directing. Listed on dozens of top films of 2020 lists, the film made the Oscar shortlist, and is distributed by The Criterion Collection. Her previous film, Cameraperson, named on The New York Times 'Top Ten Films of 2016' was also shortlisted for the Academy Awards. Her Field of Vision short, The Above was nominated for the IDA's 'Best Short Award' for 2016. Her camerawork appears in Academy Award winner Citizen Four, Academy nominated The Invisible War, and Cannes Winner Farenheit 9/11. She is one of the only 5% of women members of American Society of Cinematographers.

Hoping to stay in the country, a gay man proposes a green card marriage to a female friend in exchange for paying for her IVF treatment. However, things soon get complicated when his grandmother surprises them with plans for an extravagant Korean wedding banquet.

Hyungjin is an animator and storyteller from Seoul, now based in New York City. Inspired by her memories and family history, she creates animations characterized by hand-crafted textures and warmth. She is drawn to stories about belonging, connection, and the nuances of love.

7:00 p.m - 9:30 p.m: Screening of Secret Mall Apartment and Talkback with Townsend at Granoff Martinos Auditorium
In 2003, eight Rhode Islanders created a secret apartment inside a busy mall and lived there for four years, filming everything along the way. Far more than a prank, the secret apartment became a deeply meaningful place for all involved.

2:30 p.m - 3:30 p.m: A Conversation with Yaya DaCosta '04 at Friedman Hall
Yaya DaCosta was born and raised in New York City along with her sister and two brothers. She got her first acting gig at the age of eleven when her junior high school drama teacher, Ann Willis Ratray, encouraged her to audition for educational films. She continued to perform in school shows throughout high school and college and, in 2005, she was the runner-up in Cycle 3 of America's Next Top Model. In 2008, she made her off-Broadway debut in The First Breeze of Summer at The Signature Theater, for which she garnered rave reviews and won the Vivian Robinson/Audelco Recognition Award for Excellence in Black Theater. She has portrayed a range of characters, from Danny Glover's frail teenage daughter in John Sayles' Honeydripper, to Mark Ruffalo's voluptuous lover in Lisa Cholodenko's The Kids Are All Right. She has been tagged one of Hollywood's new "it girls" by many, including Lynn Hirschberg who featured her on the cover of W Magazine in September, 2010.

Justin Kuritzkes '12 is an American playwright, novelist, and screenwriter best known for writing the scripts for two of Luca Guadagnino's films, Challengers and Queer.

Ivy Film Festival, Brown Motion Pictures, and Brown Arts Institute are thrilled to present a conversation with Sean Baker.
Sean Baker is an American filmmaker. He is a director, writer, editor, and producer of independent feature films which are most often about the lives of marginalized people, especially immigrants and sex workers. He made his directorial film debut with Four Letter Words (2000) and co-created the television character Greg the Bunny. Baker has since directed seven feature films: Take Out (2004), Prince of Broadway (2008), Starlet (2012), Tangerine (2015), The Florida Project (2017), Red Rocket (2021), and Anora (2024).
