Joe Lombardo is silent after House Republicans passed a budget plan designed to pay for tax cuts for billionaires and large corporations by cutting Medicaid funding. Last week, Joe Lombardo had the opportunity to meet with Donald Trump and stand up for the health care of hundreds of thousands of Nevadans by speaking out against House Republicans’ cuts to Medicaid, but stayed home instead.
This comes just days after Lombardo told the Nevada Independent that he doesn’t have a contingency plan or solution to the disruption potential cuts could cause working families. These cuts could cost the state nearly $1.9 billion over the next two years and kick more than 300,000 Nevadans off their health insurance, doubling the state’s uninsured rate.
Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Tai Sims:
“Joe Lombardo has been asleep at the wheel while House Republicans passed a budget plan seemingly designed to rip away health care from more than 300,000 Nevadans while cutting taxes for billionaires. Lombardo has no contingency plan and refuses to stand up to protect Nevadans’ health care. This is not surprising coming from the same governor who vetoed legislation to lower the cost of prescription drugs and then received nearly $100,000 in campaign cash from big drug companies.”
