SAN MARCOS, TX – Local artist, teacher, DJ, and performer Tawni Bates is bringing her creative energy to the Price Center for a new 4-part series of art meet-ups mixing creativity and the roll of a die. Bates will hold four sessions on two Fridays in March and two more in April in the newly renovated upstairs Studio at the Price Center. The classes are free and open to all. Reservations are recommended.

Bates is a resident artist at Eye of the Dog Art Center in San Marcos. Her focus is sewing felt stuffies, but she is accomplished in a multitude of media. She has taught workshops and classes in hand-building with clay, drawing, sewing, painting, collage, and more. Tawni's goal for teaching, and within her own creations, is to spread joy and bring laughter and smiles to the community.

Participants in On A Creative Roll will dive into different art forms by learning the basics about a specific medium. Artists will then work on a project that will take them through a unique and creative process of using dice to decide the various aspects of that session's project.

“The dice encourages participants to let go of their creative control and let fate intervene in the process,” said Bates. “The only limitation is imagination,” she added.

On a Creative Roll with Tawni Bates begins March 14 and 21^st from 1:30 – 3:30. The first two sessions will focus on drawing and letting the die take it from there. Participants will have access to the Center’s free community art supply closet and all that Bates brings with her. All skill levels are welcome. Cash and art supply donations are always welcome.

The upstairs Studio features lots of bright daylight, extra counter space, running water, and a free community art supply closet. A variety of creative gatherings happen there regularly, including two quilting groups, a porcelain painting club, weekly and monthly open studio sessions, and one-off workshops and classes. Like all the spaces at the Pirce Center, it is available for private rental as well.
