Frankfort, Ky -- On Feb 26th, Kentucky Democratic Party (KDP) Executive Director Morgan Eaves released the following statement after House Republicans narrowly passed a budget that slashes Medicaid funding to pay for tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy.

"Last night, House Republicans — with the full backing of Donald Trump and his billionaire buddy Elon Musk — voted to cut $880 billion from Medicaid, jeopardizing health care for more than 1.4 million Kentuckians. They also slashed $230 billion from SNAP benefits, which over 500,000 Kentuckians rely on to put food on the table. With a razor-thin vote of 217-215, they've made their priorities crystal clear: tax breaks for billionaires matter more than health care for Kentucky families.

"Not a single Democrat voted for this cruel budget. Nearly every Republican in Congress voted to strip Medicaid from their own constituents while protecting tax cuts for billionaires. This is a direct attack on Kentucky's rural and most vulnerable communities.

"Kentuckians deserve representatives who fight for their well-being, not those who sacrifice it to fund tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy. Kentucky Democrats will continue standing up for working families who shouldn't have to choose between seeing a doctor and putting food on the table."
