Friday, October 11, 2024
1 -5 pm. Zipply Art Needle Felted Pumpkin (Beginner)

We will be making a broach/shawl pin or art piece using zippers, roving and embellishments. The sipper is hand sewn onto wool making an outline of a design. The inside is then filled in with wool roving using the technique of needle felting. Then buttons, beads, metal and other embellishments are added. Students will learn how to prepare a zipper and apply a pattern. Instruction of needle felting will also be included in this class as well as embellishment tips and finishing options. All materials provided.

2-4 pm. 25 Things You Never Knew You Didn't Know (about knitting).

This class covers so many things you're sure to find 25 you didn't know! We will cover Stitch Theory, knowing YOUR knitting and HOW you knit, needle/yarn choices, gage, patterns, charts, and reading, adjusting or changing them all, matching cast-ons to projects, increases to decreases and finishing before you begin…Students will get an outline handout and fill it up during class with tips and little known tidbits. If we make good progress, you can learn to knit backwards!
Bring a pencil and your latest project, as well as a pattern you hope to feel confident enough to work soon. Bring US size 6 or 7 needles and basic knitting notions.

2-5 pm. Tree of Life Pendant By Mignon Hatton
Learn wire wrapping while creating a personal tree of life pendant. Use your choice of semi-precious stones for the leaves.

9-12 am. Lotions and Potions and More

This is a "make it and take it" class that will be a money saving investment you will never regret. We will begin with the basics how aby way to make French mi soap, basic lotion, simple hear treatments and scrubs and more. You will learn how to customize recipes to make your own. You will learn to
understand the chemistry of solids, brittle solids and liquids.
Recipes to make your own cleaning products for your everyday household cleaning products will be included. This will be a jam-packed three hours. (Not a soap making class)
Please bring a paring knife, microwaveable measuring cup (any size), a small box (shoebox?) and several sandwich-size zip lock baggies. A cheese frater may also come in handy, if you have one

9-12 am. Chinese Thread Books

The women of the Zhen Xian Bao region of China would fold paper books with many compartments to hold the sewing accessories used in decorating elaborate costumes that are worn during festivals and ceremonies. Yet in themselves they are significant works of art reflecting distinct local artistic styles. The books are created using beautiful handmade paper which are enhanced by the magical folds. Each fold leads the viewer to another compartment ending with a full-size compartment for holding patterns.
Design your own take-along Thread Book. This fantastic book will provide a way to take your sewing thread, needles and embroidery thread with you to work on the go.

12-3 pm. Peyote Seed Bead Bracelet

Students will use the basic Peyote stitch to make a beaded bracelet.
