10:00 a.m.: Meet and Greet Our Snakes– Join the naturalist for this presentation about West Virginia Snakes and meet a live snake in Harold Walters Nature Center. Pre-registration not required. Program is about one hour and held indoors. Program is open to all ages. This program qualifies for one of the three required Young People for Parks Activities for children ages 6-16 to earn the Young People for Parks Patch or rattlesnake pin. 10:00AM-1:00PM: Litter Critters and Native Plants at Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge - Visitor Center
Stop by the Refuge Visitor Center to learn about the wildlife that live in the leaf litter through crafts and explore how to create a wildlife-friendly landscape in our native garden. 11:00 a.m.: Wonderfall Hike along Balsam Fir– Join the seasonal naturalist for this 1.5 mile loop through a northern hardwood forest. Well-behaved and leashed pets welcome to attend this activity with their owner. Complete the entire trail with naturalist to earn your wonderfall hiking patch. Program is about 70 minutes. Program is open to all ages. Sturdy shoes recommended. Trail has little to no change in elevation but has areas that contain roots, rocks and mud. This program qualifies for one of the three required Young People for Parks Activities for children ages 6-16 to earn the Young People for Parks Patch or rattlesnake pin. Pre-registration is not required. Ask the nature center staff about these programs at 304-259-5511.
11am – Sunset: Scenic Chairlift Rides – Canaan Valley Resort, in Canaan Valley. Get a breathtaking bird's eye view of the valley and Allegheny Mountains from our chairlift. The picturesque landscape becomes even more so in the fall as the leaves change and surround you in a sea of color. It's the best seat in the house ! Chairlift Fee: Adult $10; Jr or Sr: $8
12:00 p.m.: Plaster of Paris Leaf– Join the staff to create a lasting memory of your favorite fall leaf with the activity. Craft fee is $3.00. pre-registration is not required but encouraged. Program is about one hour but drying times vary.
2:30 p.m.: Fall Wildflowers and Craft– Join the recreation attendant for an for a walk around the area looking at fall wildflowers then pound an imprint of a plant onto a piece of cloth. Craft fee: $2.00. Pre-registration encouraged but not required. This program qualifies for one of the three required Young People for Parks Activities for children ages 6-16 to earn the Young People for Parks Patch or rattlesnake pin. 4:00pm-7:00pm: Birds of Prey – Educational Presentation every hour 4:00, 5:00 and 6:00 by Laurel Fork Falconer. Also Redhead and Mudboots will have some of her handcrafted wooden jewelry and other items Located on the grassy area in front of Alpine Lodge. Brought to you by the West Virginia School of Traditional Skills.
4:00pm-7:00pm: Food Preservation-Learn how to preserve food, 3 different methods of canning food (water bath, steam and pressure canning), dehydration and freeze drying. Presented by the Laurel Fork Farm. Also Have the chance to meet Josie, the most popular tour guide from the farm and her chickens, get the opportunity to touch a chicken! Located on the grassy area in front of Alpine Lodge. Brought to you by the West Virginia School of Traditional Skills.
4:00pm-7:00pm: Crocheting Demonstrations-Learn the basics of crocheting, presented by It’s Kendra Paige. Located on the grassy area in front of Alpine Lodge. Brought to you by the West Virginia School of Traditional Skills.
4:00pm-7:00pm: Litter Critters – A Salamander Exploration with Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge
“Leave the leaves!” say the salamanders! Salamanders and many other wildlife depend on leaf litter to find food and shelter. Stop by this station to see some live salamanders, participate in kid-friendly activities, and learn more about these special critters and the salamander research conducted on the refuge. Located on the grassy area in front of Alpine Lodge.
4:00pm – Dark: Inflatable Amusement Rides- Davis. Sponsored by Young Life, Inflatable rides will be set up behind the Davis Firehall in the fenced in grassy area.
5:00pm-7:00pm: Tucker Community Foundation’s Run For It Early-bird Registration, Front Bay of DVFD, Davis

5pm – 7pm: Leaf Peepers Festival stage – Davis, WV
Nat Frederick. Nat has a passion for music rooted in family sing-alongs, CMT music videos, and an old Yamaha 12-String. He writes simple, authentic, and emotional country songs and performs his solo acoustic show all over the Allegheny Mountains and the East Coast. Sponsored by the Alpine Festival
5:00pm – 8:00pm: Farmers Artisan Market – 533 Williams Ave, Davis. Come for fresh vegetables, homemade bread, pottery, felted works, soap, and botanicals.
7:00 pm: Leaf Peeper’s Festival Parade
Enjoy the Leaf Peeper’s Parade! If you would like to participate, the line-up is at 6pm, next to the Dollar General. Parade route will start at 2nd Street and end at Henry Ave. on William Ave. (Rte 32) in downtown Davis. Quiet-sensory safe zone will be from 8th street to Henry Ave. [email protected]
Trophies will be awarded and given out at the DVFD Fire Hall directly after the parade.
