It crystallizes much of what LWVC’s Criminal Justice Interest Group has been addressing over the last few years.  Ostensibly, it focuses on restorative justice, but it really isn’t limited to that and is quite expansive. Join us!

Trish Gomez, Police Administrative Specialist at the Albany Police Department, gave a presentation on the department’s crime data and informational resources. Gomez began with an introduction, before presenting to the audience the police department’s website, various features available to citizens on the website, and the updates planned to further improve the website. She highlighted the Crime Mapping page where the program Crime Graphics is, which makes crimes and police activity available for the public to track. See more!

Berkeley residents facing mental health or substance use crises – or those seeking to help them – now have an alternative to calling 911 and involving law enforcement. A newly established Specialized Care Unit, operated by the nonprofit Bonita House, can be reached at (510) 948-0075 from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm, seven days a week. It will serve all ages and respond to various locations. The unit aims to eventually be available 24/7. See more!
