Happy World Turtle Day!
We celebrated World Turtle Day on Tuesday! Did you know that the MMSC has responded to 2,276 Sea Turtles over the past 45 years? Everything from the giant Leatherback to the smallest Kemp's Ridley Sea turtles have been through our doors. We still do the initial rescues of these Threatened and Endangered species, including disentanglements at sea, like this Leatherback sea turtle. We now send any sea turtles in need of treatment to our colleagues at Sea Turtle Recovery for long-term rehabilitation.

The first book to kick off our summer reading list is "Emily's Turtles" by Katie Nagy. This inspiring story about caring for nature and showing kindness to animals teaches children that everyone can make a positive impact, no matter how young they are. In celebration of World Turtle Day, author Katie Nagy is generously donating 25% of the profits from the sales of "Emily's Turtles" from today through Sunday May 28th to the Marine Mammal Stranding Center!
