Maryland State Arts Council Connect - April 2025

Arts and Entertainment

April 26, 2025

From: Maryland State Arts Council

If you’re like me, you’ve emerged from your winter "hibernation mode," where staying inside and tackling strategic planning felt the most productive. But just like that, the cherry blossoms and tulips are in full bloom, and with them comes a new season of energy, color, and connection.

Another indicator of spring for me is the wave of invitations I receive to attend events, openings, and classes hosted by many of our constituents! I recently had the pleasure of attending the final session of “Inspired by Nature,” a creative aging class at Art Works Now in Hyattsville, where students presented works on paper and reflected on the impact of their experiences.

The lovely camaraderie was a joy to witness - the deep appreciation and respect among the students were a beautiful reminders of the power of stepping away from the desk, embracing the fresh spring air, and connecting with others.

Spring has sprung!

A creative stop in Chestertown: March council meeting recap

Last month, MSAC staff and councilors were hosted in Chestertown by the Kent Cultural Alliance for our March council meeting. While in town, we connected with the National Assembly of State Arts AgenciesMaryland 250 Commission, and the Art Pharmacy. The visit offered a glimpse into the work of this vibrant county arts agency, and we left inspired by the people and projects shaping the arts on the Eastern Shore and throughout the country.
