Boston, MA - The Massachusetts Republican Party fully supports the unified efforts of the House Republican Caucus in their letter to the Healey-Driscoll Administration, demanding accountability after an illegal immigrant was discovered in a taxpayer-funded emergency shelter with multiple firearms and an estimated $1 million worth of fentanyl. Every member of the House Republican Caucus joined in signing this critical call to action.

MassGOP Chair Amy Carnevale praised the House Republican Caucus for their leadership and strongly criticized the Healey-Driscoll Administration for this egregious oversight. Carnevale stated, “Why are long-term Massachusetts families left waiting for emergency housing while a criminal illegal immigrant is conducting a criminal enterprise from within state-funded housing? This amounts to state-funded crime. The House Republican Caucus is doing a great service to the people of Massachusetts by demanding answers for this dangerous and unacceptable failure.”

Carnevale emphasized the urgency of the situation, concluding, “Republicans have called for residency requirements for emergency housing time and time again. This must serve as the final wake-up call to the Democratic supermajority and the Healey-Driscoll Administration to reform the state-funded Emergency Assistance program. The migrant crisis has spiraled into a financial catastrophe, a humanitarian disaster, and a severe threat to public safety. Massachusetts residents deserve answers and Democrats need to put partisanship aside and work with Republicans on solutions.”
