MassGOP Slams Healey's Reelection Bid: Calls for New Leadership to Get Massachusetts on the Right Track

Government and Politics

February 7, 2025

Boston, MA - On February 7, 2025, Governor Maura Healey announced her bid for reelection. Over the past several years, Healey has overseen a taxpayer-funded humanitarian crisis, soaring costs of living, tax hikes, reckless spending, and the least transparent government in the nation. Massachusetts residents deserve better. We are confident that voters will reject another four years of the Healey-Driscoll Administration and elect a common-sense Republican to restore accountability, affordability, and good governance to the Commonwealth.

MassGOP Chair Amy Carnevale responded to Healey’s announcement, stating, “Governor Healey has disappointed residents time and again, steering Massachusetts into an era of secrecy, mismanagement, and financial irresponsibility. Under her leadership, the Commonwealth has become the least transparent state in the nation, with billions wasted on a migrant crisis that has spiraled into a full-blown humanitarian disaster—marked by sexual assaults, drug trafficking, child abuse, and violent crime. Instead of implementing necessary reforms, she continues pushing for hundreds of millions in additional spending that Massachusetts simply cannot afford. Meanwhile, municipalities are struggling to make ends meet, and Healey’s solution is to raise taxes and dig deeper into the pockets of hardworking residents. The numbers speak for themselves—more Massachusetts residents are leaving than arriving, a clear testament to Governor Healey’s failed leadership.”

Carnevale continued, “Massachusetts needs a leader who will get us back on track—someone who will cut taxes, reduce burdensome regulations, and prioritize funding for local communities rather than perpetuating wasteful government bloat. We need a governor who will restore transparency to Beacon Hill and focus on putting money in the hands of residents instead of expanding state bureaucracy. We need a leader who will strengthen our business climate, increase wages, and make Massachusetts a place where people want to live and work. Simply put, Massachusetts needs a governor who will prioritize the needs of residents and put the good of the Commonwealth above political gamesmanship. We are actively engaging with several Republicans who would all make strong candidates, and we are confident we will have a formidable challenger ready to take on Healey and restore prosperity to the Commonwealth.”
