Helena, MT - The Montana Democratic Party’s interim Executive Director, Justin Ailport, released the following statement in response to the Trump Administration’s orders to pause federal grants and loans:

“The Trump administration’s reckless and dangerous funding freeze could have a devastating impact on healthcare research, education programs, and thousands of federal programs working Montanans and their families rely on. These grants and loans are a financial lifeline for numerous small business owners, farmers and ranchers, local governments, and hard-working Montanans in rural and urban areas. This nonsensical, careless act could affect everyone from schoolchildren who rely on programs that provide school lunches, to cancer patients who require life-saving treatment.Senator Daines, Senator Sheehy, Congressman Zinke, and Congressman Downing need to stand up to President Trump before this causes irreparable harm to families across the state.”
