Have you ever wondered what it would be like to volunteer for Meals on Wheels?
Volunteers are the heart of Meals on Wheels. They bring meals, share smiles and check in on seniors who may not see anyone else that day. Their time and kindness let our aging neighbors know that they are not alone.
Thanks to volunteers, the Meals on Wheels network delivers nutritious meals to more than 2 million seniors every year. Each day they help End the Wait™ to ensure that every senior who needs Meals on Wheels gets it.
And right now, many local Meals on Wheels providers could really use a helping hand. Check out our easy-to-use tool to find a provider in your area!
Wondering if volunteering might be for you? Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at a day in the life of a volunteer:
Lead With Kindness
As a Meals on Wheels volunteer, your day might begin by picking up prepared meals and getting ready to go out on a delivery. As you head out on your route, you'll know each stop on your list is someone counting on you.
Deliver With Purpose
From the knock on the door to a shared story or quick check-in, every interaction delivers more than a meal — it brings comfort, companionship and peace of mind. These small moments are life-changing and, in some cases, lifesaving.
Feel The Impact
By the end of your route, you’ve done something real. You’ve helped your older neighbors stay healthy and independent, and reminded them that they’re not alone. It only takes a few hours to be a lifeline for aging folks in your community.
For over half of local Meals on Wheels providers, a shortage of volunteers is a major challenge to reaching more older adults in their communities.
Now is the time to get involved. Whether it’s a few hours a month or a few days a week, your time helps End the Wait for seniors in need. By volunteering, you can help change lives — including your own.
Thank you for your support.
