Meals on Wheels America News: They Cared for Us - Now it’s Our Turn

Clubs and Organizations

May 9, 2025

Mother’s Day reminds us of the women who’ve cared for us with love and strength. As we celebrate this weekend, we ask you to also remember those living alone, behind closed doors.

Meals on Wheels serves countless aging mothers who once spent their lives caring for others. Now, they need a little help to stay safe, nourished and connected in the communities and homes they love.

“I would go hungry if it weren’t for Meals on Wheels. I don’t go hungry at all because I know they are going to bring me some food!” -- Shirley, mother and Meals on Wheels client

“Having somebody come to your house and have compassion for you, I think it's wonderful. It seems like the Meals on Wheels folks were put on this Earth to take care of people. I love this home. I love this neighborhood, and I’m very grateful that Meals on Wheels helps me stay.” -- Charlene, mother and Meals on Wheels client

Your donation today honors their strength and legacy, and helps ensure they can live with dignity — not forgotten as they age. Meals on Wheels providers across the country deliver more than just food. They offer a lifeline to women who spent their lives giving to others.

GIVE IN THEIR HONOR

This year, you can also dedicate your gift to someone who’s made a difference in your life. Whether it’s your mom, grandmother, sister or chosen family — what better way to honor her than by helping a mother in need?

These stories are proof that family is what you make of it. As we celebrate Mother's Day, let us honor Willie, Shirley, Charlene and countless others like them whose love knows no bounds.

Thank you for your commitment and support. Wishing you a beautiful holiday.
