Clubs and Organizations

December 2, 2024

'Tis the Season of Giving

Want to make this season feel more fulfilling? Here are a few special ways you can continue to support Meals on Wheels, a cause we know you care about.

Our store is stocked with Meals on Wheels hats, jackets, water bottles and koozies that make great gifts, and every dollar spent helps fund our important work. And if you're looking for more impactful ways to give before the end of the year, you can donate stock, a car or even real estate.

And, because you are a valued supporter, we’re giving you early access to our Giving Tuesday match. This is your chance to double your gift and your impact!

No matter how you choose to give, it all helps us End the Wait™ for seniors across the country.

Warm meals and full hearts on Thanksgiving

All across America, Meals on Wheels programs worked tirelessly to ensure that homebound seniors enjoyed the warmth of a holiday meal this Thanksgiving. Local heroes like this program in Northeast Ohio made a huge impact, delivering nearly 600 hot Thanksgiving meals and providing over 1,000 additional meal packs to their clients.

We’re grateful for the local programs that make sure no one is hungry or alone – especially during the holidays.

Warm and fuzzy: Partnering to feed seniors and their pets

When seniors face food insecurity, their pet companions often do, too. Through a partnership with PetSmart Charities, Meals on Wheels America is ensuring that no one in these families, from our furry friends to our aging friends, goes hungry or spends their days alone.

In a recent interview, Ellie Hollander, CEO of Meals on Wheels America, and Aimee Gilbreath, president of PetSmart Charities, shared a common goal among seemingly different organizations: keeping seniors and their pets together where they belong.

“Many of the seniors we serve are making daily trade-offs,” Hollander explained. “For them, their pet is like a child. Sharing their meal with their pet shouldn’t come at the cost of their own health.”

Thanks to this shared commitment, our partnership has already delivered over 13 million pet meals, supporting seniors and their beloved companions.
