RE: Flags at Half-Staff in Honor of Lincoln Díaz-Balart
On Monday, March 3, 2025, Lincoln Díaz-Balart passed away after battling cancer at the age of 70. Lincoln Díaz-Balart was first elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 1986 where he served until 1989. From 1989 to 1992, Mr. Díaz-Balart served one term in the Florida Senate. He was then elected to the United States House of Representatives to serve Florida’s twenty-first Congressional District, where he honorably represented his constituents until 2011. Lincoln Díaz-Balart was a leader in the Cuban American community and an advocate against Communism and the Castro regime. During his public service tenure, he displayed unwavering support for democracy in the United States and abroad.
To honor the memory of Lincoln Díaz-Balart and his commitment to public service, I hereby direct the flags of the United States and the State of Florida to be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol in Tallahassee, Florida and all local and state buildings, installations, and grounds throughout Miami-Dade County from sunrise to sunset on Friday, March 7, 2025.
