WICKED OCT 31 + MISCAST NOV 7
Spooky season is full of creativity and fun for youth artists and theater lovers!
Can’t wait until Wicked: For Good hits theaters in November? Join us for Wicked Singalong Screenings in the Charles Mosesian Theater on October 31 at 4:00 & 7:30 PM and belt it out on the big screen!
These screenings are part of HALLOWEEKEND, a celebration for all ages with music, movies, and hands-on workshops. Younger participants can get creative in our Spooky Season Grab Bag art workshop (Grades K–2) or bring some drama to life in How to Die On Stage (Grades 3–8) on November 2.
Then, don’t miss Miscast on November 7 at 8:00 PM – our one-of-a-kind fundraiser supporting tuition assistance for MCA’s Youth Education Programs and Watertown Children’s Theatre. Students, alumni, and staff take the stage to perform songs and roles they’d never get to play otherwise, flipping the script in the most joyful way. Every ticket helps open doors for families to participate in our programs, making the arts more accessible for all.
CALL TO ARTISTS
Contemporary Landscapes - From Observational to Symbolic
Mosesian Arts invites artists to submit work inspired by the landscape. Landscape in art is a broad theme that spans from depictions of the natural world, the urban and industrial landscapes to the landscape as a symbolic representation. Contemporary landscape artworks continue to evolve from the idealized depictions of nature to more personal interpretations of the outside world. Present-day artists working in the genre often engage with concepts such as the fear of the destruction of nature caused by continued industrialization and rapid climate change.
Mosesian Arts is seeking work where the landscape takes center stage. The work can be focused on the natural world as perceived by the artist or can be more interpretive and nonliteral.
Submission deadline: December 8

IN THE COMMUNITY
The Harvard Ed Portal invites artists of all backgrounds to apply for two opportunities.
The Artist Pipeline Program supports emerging and mid-career Allston-Brighton artists with independent learning, mentorship, and up to a year to complete a project or paid engagement at Harvard.
They’re also seeking proposals for a spring 2026 public mural. Muralists should submit bold, site-responsive ideas exploring themes like social justice, health and healing, and community. Priority goes to Allston-Brighton and Cambridge artists, but all local creatives are welcome.
MCC's Grants for Creative Individuals are unrestricted grants of $5,000 to Massachusetts artists, culture bearers, and creative practitioners to equitably advance creative expression throughout our diverse communities.
Mass Cultural Council believes creativity is the key to solving many of society’s concerns. Advancing this asset helps to make the Commonwealth a preeminent place in the nation for it to thrive.
Applications are open now through October 28.
West Newton Cinema presents There Was, There Was Not, opening Friday, October 10, with a special Q&A screening on November 7 at 7:00 PM. Blending myth and reality, the film follows four Armenian women confronting the loss of their homeland. What begins as a quiet portrait of everyday life transforms, after the war in Artsakh, into a powerful chronicle of survival - a cinematic act of memory and resistance.
