What to See

Gingerbread NYC: The Great Borough Bake-Off

Through January 12, 2025

Bakers from across the five boroughs have built gingerbread displays on the theme of “Iconic New York”—creating distinctive skyscrapers, places, or things that represent their neighborhood, community, or borough. Now in its third year and already an annual tradition, the sights and smells of this miniature metropolis will help you ring in the season.

Art Deco City: New York Postcards from the Leonard A. Lauder Collection

Through February 17, 2025

Illuminating the key role postcards played in transforming New York into an international capital during the interwar years, Art Deco City immerses visitors in the dazzling style that defined the modern city.

The Stettheimer Dollhouse in a New Light

Opens November 22

A beloved highlight of the Museum's collection returns to the galleries following an extensive conservation project. A new display for this iconic masterpiece encourages visitors to look closer at the dollhouse’s intricate details, offering a fascinating glimpse into the world of early 20th-century New York.

Above Ground: Art From the Martin Wong Graffiti Collection

Opens November 22

Above Ground centers on the many artists who transitioned from illegally writing on subway cars to creating paintings on canvas and exhibiting in galleries and museums. Showcasing artists such as Keith Haring, Lady Pink, and Futura 2000, the exhibition highlights previously unseen treasures from the Museum’s collection of graffiti-based art.

Lead support for Above Ground: Art from the Martin Wong Graffiti Collection is provided by UNIQLO USA, with additional support by Elizabeth Belfer. Support for this exhibition is made possible by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the New York City Council.
