Nebraska Democratic Party Statement on the Passing/Defeat of Winner-Take-All

LINCOLN, NE – The Nebraska Democratic Party Chair Jane Kleeb issues the following statement regarding the passing/defeat of LB3, the Winner-Take-All Bill:

“Democratic, Independent and a few brave Republican state senators did the right thing today with voting with the will of Nebraskans. Winner-take-all has no business in our state. Our free and fair split electoral system has been the law of the land for over 30 years and will continue after today. Governor Pillen and President Trump once again prove that they would rather bully winner-take-all on us than have the voices of Nebraska’s second congressional district have a direct say in future presidential elections. We especially thank the cross-partisan group of Senators who came together to protect the fair electoral process. With the defeat of LB3, we hope this will put the issue to rest and keep outside influences from altering our unique way of selecting presidents and ensuring Nebraska is relevant rather than a flyover state.”
