The Department of Neighborhood Empowerment (DONE) is accepting applications for our Neighborhood Empowerment Advocate (NEA) position. Applications are due Tuesday January 2, 2024.
NEAs are field representatives who promote civic participation in government and in the system of Neighborhood Councils. They provide direct Neighborhood Council support by interpreting documents and ordinances related to the governance of Neighborhood Councils, developing informal training and group programs to support the growth and development of the System of Neighborhood Councils, and providing individual support for Neighborhood Council board members.
Ideal candidates will have experience with the Neighborhood Council system, but this experience is not required. They will also have strong public speaking skills, a minimum of three years of intensive community organizing experience, and a valid CA license and personal vehicle. Fluency in another language, spatial mapping skills, social media knowledge, and an understanding of the principles of board governance, while not required, are highly desirable.

The Department of Neighborhood Empowerment (DONE) is accepting applications for a Project Assistant. Applications are due Tuesday January 2, 2024.
The Project Assistant will be responsible for assisting in the coordination of Neighborhood Council election and selection activities and outreach in conjunction with Neighborhood Council Boards and the Office of the City Clerk. This position will also assist in promoting civic participation in government and in the system of Neighborhood Councils, including the Charter of the City of Los Angeles and the Plan for a Citywide System of Neighborhood Councils, and assisting in the development of informal training.
Ideal candidates will have at least two years of experience working in an office setting, preferably with experience in personnel, human resources, legal matters, and/or California Public Records Act. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and Adobe applications are highly desired.
