“Housing a crisis here in the valley from not making enough to pay rent to seniors on a fixed income”
Ahead of the 2025 State of the State Address, NV Dems launched a new ad titled “Expensive,” reminding Nevadans how Lombardo’s vetoes are costing hardworking families.
Lombardo vetoed several bills that would have lowered housing costs for Nevada residents in support of policies that benefit the slumlord billionaire who bankrolled his gubernatorial campaign. Now, Nevada is facing one of the toughest housing crises in the nation with eviction rates in Las Vegas being among the highest in the country and homelessness skyrocketing.
He vetoed a bill that would have guaranteed school meals to public school students and as a result, a recent report revealed that Northern Nevada parents have accrued more than $60,000 of debt due to his veto and Washoe County schools had to drain their savings to temporarily try to help parents and students.
After vetoing a bill that would have lowered the price of Medicare-negotiated prescription drugs for all Nevadans, a report found that Joe Lombardo raked in nearly $100,000 in campaign cash from big drug companies.

Nevada State Democratic Party Executive Director Hilary Barrett:
“Under Joe Lombardo, everyday costs – including housing, prescription drugs, and school meals – are more expensive. With the stroke of a pen, he could have capped rent increases for the most vulnerable Nevadans, capped the cost of life-saving prescription drugs, and put money back in parents’ pockets by guaranteeing school meals to every Nevada student. While hardworking families struggle to make ends meet, Lombardo has refused to offer any serious solutions to these serious issues and instead special interest groups have benefitted on the backs of Nevadans.”
