From: New Hampshire Governor Kelly AyotteGovernor and Law Enforcement Leaders Celebrate State’s #1 Ranking
CONCORD, NH - On May 06, 2025, Governor Kelly Ayotte and law enforcement leaders celebrated New Hampshire once again ranking as the safest state in the nation in U.S. News & World Report's 2025 "Best State" rankings.
"I'm proud that New Hampshire once again ranks #1 for public safety - a testament to the dedicated men and women at every level of law enforcement," said Governor Ayotte. "Thank you to all those who keep us safe each day and help make our state the best place to live, work, and raise a family. Together, we will continue to protect our communities, recruit and retain the best officers, and ensure New Hampshire remains the safest state in the nation."
"This achievement is a reflection of the hard work, professionalism, and commitment of our State Troopers, public safety partners, and communities across the Granite State," said New Hampshire State Police Colonel Mark B. Hall. "We take great pride in keeping this state safe, and this recognition speaks to the strength of our partnerships and the trust we've built with the public. We're proud of this accomplishment, but we know safety is an ongoing effort, and we remain committed to working every day to keep New Hampshire a place where all residents and visitors feel secure."
"I am proud of the role the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has played in making New Hampshire the safest state in the nation once again," added Hillsborough County Sheriff Brian Newcomb. "Today, we celebrate this achievement, but we also recognize that this work is never done. I look forward to working with Governor Ayotte, my fellow Sheriffs, and law enforcement at the federal, state, and local level to ensure our state stays #1 in the nation for public safety for years to come."
"New Hampshire is only as strong as our largest city, and each day, the men and women of the Manchester Police Department go above and beyond to protect and serve our citizens," said Manchester Police Chief Peter Marr. "Collaboration at every level of law enforcement is critical to maintaining this #1 ranking, and I take great pride in the partnerships we have built with the Governor and at every level of law enforcement in our state. Manchester is ready to keep working together and keep New Hampshire the safest state in the country."
