Just Another Boring Still Life Show? by Julie AngelaTheresa, Gallery

My work is about capturing objects and people in a moment of time; not the time itself, there's no reference to what is going on where the object or person exists. Backgrounds are abstract as to not place the subject matter in a specific time. My aim is more to capture the subject. When starting a new work I asked myself, “Is this a new object? Is it old? Has it been used before? Is the person aged? Are they bright, new and shiny? Or have they been worn down from many years of use?”

Recent Prints by Jo Ann Rothschild,  Main Hall

These etchings and monoprints mark a return to printmaking for the artist, whose recent exhibitions concentrated on painting. This work is exploratory, rather than aiming for a known result. Gesture, repetition, accident and the grid are elements that construct the images. Prints prioritize touch, the sense of the human. Rothschild says “When I print, I love knowing that centuries earlier, Rembrandt used the same process.”

Ryder Flowers

Susan Ryder uses paper to create two- and three-dimensional art pieces evoking domestic landscapes, flowers, fashion and objects that bring joy. Her process includes the use of a desktop cutter and a mountain of Xacto blades!

Susan exhibits her work in art galleries around New England and Europe. She has done custom work for the Peabody Essex Museum and the DeCordova Museum. She can be found through her website at SusanRyderDesign.com.
