"Alma Luz" Directed by Heidi Duckler

Inspired by the emotive words of Clarice Lispector's poem, "My Soul Has the Weight of Light", Alma Luz illuminates the immaterial weight of the human condition—the weight of an unspoken word, the fleeting touch of a look and the fragile, ethereal essence of the soul itself.

"The Bully" Written and Directed by Sarah Majdali Ryerson A little girl turns a bully into a friend.

"I Watched Her Grow" Directed by Shea Formanes Seven years after the mysterious death of her mother, an isolated botanist meets an enigmatic, teenage runaway in a creek. Forming an unexpected bond, the two embark on a harrowing journey to confront their respective pasts, all while slowly realizing that they may not have to face their uncertain futures alone.

"Aftermath" Directed by Katrina Brede and Jason Connelly A young woman's resilience is tested in the aftermath.

Content warnings for the event include: Offscreen gunshots, blood, discussions of death and suicide (specifically assisted suicide), mentions of knives and guns, discussions of parental abuse, discussions of mental health and depression.

Accessibility Notes: "I Watched Her Grow" contains flashing lights, flashing images, and loud noises.

On the second Sunday of every month, we let freak flags fly, revel in diversity, and value creativity at every skill and experience level. Call us millennial snowflakes, because it’s time for participation awards! Here, any filmmaker has a chance to show off their hard work on the big screen, and audiences get a chance to see films that could otherwise be gatekept from them by the politics, commercialism, and financial barriers often set in place by the current festival circuit.
