7:30 pm: A French-Canadian Soirée
The 18th annual Northern Roots Traditional Music Festival with a special French Canadian Soirée featuring some othe best-known names in the French Canadian music world, including: accordionist Sabin Jacques, pianist Rachel Aucoin, fiddler Pascal Gemme, guitarist and singer Yann Falquet, and Brattleboro’s own Keith Murphy! This special event is sponsored, in part by the Délégation du Québec à Boston.
Tickets for this stand alone concert are $25.

Afternoon workshops and Evening Concert
On Saturday and Sunday the familiar format of daytime workshops, evening concert, and Sunday sessions continues! Saturday workshops include opportunities to learn/hear tunes from County Mayo, New England, Scandinavia, French Canada, and the Bal Folk dance tradition, as well as explore songs of the Northern New England work camps, maritime traditions, and Irish Immigration. There will also be a chance to dance Bal Folk!

The Saturday evening concert (7:30 pm) will include an encore smattering of French-Canadian music but will also feature Paul McDonnell on Irish accordion, Bennett Konesni (guitar and vocals), Benjamin Foss (New England fiddle), singers Deirdre and Sean Murtha, and Traddleboro 2025. This year’s Traddleboro, which highlights a different ensemble each year, will consist of members of the young musician group Fiddleheads Brattleboro, a program of Vermont Folklife, led by Laurel Swift and currently hosted at the BMC.
