SuperFolk is Back, March 1-2!

Join us for the 2nd annual SuperFolk Festival on March 1-2, in Tacoma, WA.  Celebrate the tradition and evolution of folk arts with music, visual art, craft vendors and more! In collaboration with Washington State History Museum, Tacoma Arts Live, and Whippoorwill Arts, this event celebrates the power of folk arts with a weekend of multidisciplinary and inter-cultural art-forms that connect traditions of the past, present, and future!

Festival Activations Still Open

Threads of the People is our take on a fashion show, featuring a mix of runway shows, workshops and demos, vendor booths, displays and material swaps. This new addition explores fashion as folk art when our clothing was created in homes, by hand, and from materials found in our natural environment.

The Maker’s Space is designed to showcase and give hands-on demonstrations of the wide world of craft. We want to encourage and instill a sense of wonder and imagination in our own creative imaginings and curiosities.

Kuleana Corridor is NW Folklife’s exploration of the Folk vocation, bringing the people, communities, organizations, and cooperatives who are actively engaging in techniques that promote bio- diversity, support sustainable & healthy food production, and give strength to the cause of food justice, security, and sovereignty.

Northwest Folklife will be celebrating the folk art of quilting at the 2024 Northwest Folklife Festival. We will be soliciting 15” quilt blocks from the community to be displayed at the 2024 Northwest Folklife festival. After the festival, the blocks will be sewn into a Community Quilt.

Public Archive!

Northwest Folklife introduces our new Public Archive! Eventually, this will include thousands of culture bearers and craft-makers of various disciplines in the Pacific Northwest, helping us stay connected and grounded by nurturing our roots as well as our curiosity about the many cultural traditions and practices we live amongst. Filtered by category, genre, date, and medium, this is phase-one of a larger effort to digitize footage dating back to 1972, as well as continuing to document performances, workshops, and practices into the future!

Vendor Applications Closed

Vendor Applications for the NW Folklife Festival has closed. Thank you all who have applied. Selection notifications will be sent the end of March. If you have missed the deadline and would still like to apply, please email: [email protected]
