After the devastating 2019 fire, Notre Dame Cathedral underwent a five-year restoration and is now reopening to the public. Michael Davis, PhD, an expert in French Gothic architecture and professor emeritus at Mount Holyoke College, will explore the cathedral’s rich history and revival, featuring the latest images of its restoration.

“Flirting With Danger: Socialite & Spy - Marguerite Harrison”

Author of 10 books on women in history, Janet Wallach is best known for her New York Times notable book of the year, Desert Queen: The Extraordinary Life of Gertrude Bell. At Fairfield, she’ll discuss her latest work, Flirting with Danger, the true story of socialite Marguerite Harrison, an American spy who slipped behind enemy lines in Russia and Germany between the world wars. Wallach also co-founded Seeds of Peace, a nonprofit fostering leadership and dialogue among youth from conflict regions.
