McIntosh Students Make Annual Close Up Trip to DC
More than three dozen McIntosh High School students visited our nation's capital for a weeklong lesson in civics.
Close Up, a nonprofit, nonpartisan, civic education organization, sponsored the trip so the teens could practice the skills of citizenship and experience their government in action.
The Peachtree City students and their teachers met with staff from the offices of Senator Jon Ossoff, Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock and Congressman Drew Ferguson. They also participated in multiple workshops such as political values, domestic issues debate and mock Congress.
McIntosh High School sends a group of students to Washington every year. They've been involved with CloseUp for more than two decades.

Sign up for Citizen Police Academy
How do cops do their job?
The Peachtree City police department aims to answer that question at its annual citizens' police academy.
Now in its 21st year, the citizens' police academy teaches residents how crime scenes are processed, how traffic laws are enforced, and how officers take a suspect into custody while protecting themselves and others from harm.
The 10-week course also includes a ride-along with an officer and a tour of the 911 communications center.
Applications for the citizens' police academy are now being accepted. Participants must be at least 18 years old and pass a background check.
