Pima County Government - Furry Friends Take Center Stage At Tucson Subaru Pets Of Pima Parade Feb. 19 On Fourth Avenue

PIMA COUNTY, Feb. 9, 2023 – Join Pima Animal Care CenterFriends of PACC, and a variety of four-legged friends for a one-of-a-kind celebration of Pima County’s pets Feb. 19 along Historic Fourth Avenue.

In addition to hundreds of animals, the Tucson Subaru Pets of Pima Parade will feature bands, floats, entertainers, costumed characters, classic vehicles, and more. District 3 Supervisor Sharon Bronson will serve as the Parade’s Grand Marshal, helping to celebrate the progress made for animals in Pima County. The Feb. 19 parade is organized by Friends of Pima Animal Care Center to support the pets and programs at PACC.

The parade route proceed from the northeast corner of Fourth Avenue and Fifth Street and proceed down 4th Avenue beginning at 10 a.m. It will be followed at 11:30 a.m. by the “4 Legs on 4th Festival,” which will take place at the end of the parade route at 4th Avenue and 7th Street until 3 p.m. The festival will feature live entertainment and events on the Tucson Federal Credit Union Stage, courtesy of Arizona Music Connection, as well as the HSL Properties Adoption Extravaganza featuring adoptable pets, the Fun Zone, and a vendor fair with pet-themed arts and crafts.

Pet families are welcome to join the fun either in the “Raising Cane’s Procesión de los Perros,” “TEP Cat Convoy,” or the “Pet Pride” parade segment for all other pet types. To participate in the parade, people are asked to raise $50 or more in support of animals at PACC. Kids 17 and under can register for free with their families, making the parade a fun outing for the whole family. Businesses and organizations are welcome to join the parade as well by hosting a team.

Register to participate in the parade with your pet at www.petsofpimaparade.com through Feb. 17. Participants can also register onsite the day of the parade.

If folks want an alternative way to celebrate, FOX11 and My18 will be rebroadcasting this year’s parade, and spectators are encouraged to attend the parade and festival.

Monica Dangler, PACC’s Director of Animal Services, said that events like the Tucson Subaru Pets of Pima Parade are vital to the shelter’s lifesaving efforts.

“Thanks to Friends of PACC and the generous sponsorships and donations from our community, we are able to improve the lives of people and pets across Pima County,” said Dangler. “We are so grateful for everyone’s support, and we are looking forward to celebrating that human-animal bond at the parade.”

Also featured in the parade will be the shelter’s new “PACCmobile,” an adoption vehicle that will be used throughout the county to create new families and provide resources to pets and their people to keep them together. Pima County Board of Supervisors Chair Adelita Grijalva will be co-piloting the PACCmobile, greeting parade-goers and highlighting the mobile unit’s expected impact across the County.

The parade is made possible through the efforts of the Friends of PACC parade organizing committee and support from Tucson Subaru, Tucson Federal Credit Union, Raising Cane’s, Central Pet, HSL Properties, Copper Dog Scotch Whisky, TEP, Comcast, Saguaro Solar, Tucson International Airport, TMC Health, UA College of Veterinary Medicine, Better Business Bureau, Fox11/My18, iHeartMedia, Arizona Daily Star/Tucson Media, Tucson Dog Magazine, Fourth Avenue Merchants Association, Tucson Comic-Con, Republic Services, and Sun Link.
