Grayson Lyons

Introduce yourself, and tell us how old you are!

Grayson Lyons, 11 years old

Why do you love theatre?

I love theatre because you can become any character that you want. You get to use costumes and learn lines to embody your character.

How long have I been at Poison Apple?

I have been at Poison Apple for two years.

What has been your favorite show that you've performed in?

The show hasn't happened yet, but The Addams Family is my favorite.

Favorite Role?

Uncle Fester

What’s something you’ve learned from participating in theatre?

I've learned that you need to focus on the play and sometimes you need to forget about how hungry you are or how itchy your costume is, and  just remember how hard you've worked for this moment.

Can you tell us about a moment onstage when something didn't go as planned? How did it turn out?

In Annie, another character went on the stage too early. So, another orphan and I had to go on stage alone until everyone else realized what scene we were in.

What's one piece of advice you'd like to give to someone stepping onstage for the first time?

Find where your family is sitting and in your mind,  blow them a kiss,  try to remember all your lines, and focus on the character that you are. Also, look out for the blinding lights!

Is there anyone you'd like to give a shout-out to for supporting you on your acting journey?

I'd like to give a shout-out to Ms. Emily, Ms. Noelle, the costume designers, and all the PAPAs I’ve had.

Aladdin, Annie, and currently The Addams Family.

To be chosen as the actor of the week, actors need to be enthusiastic, positive and dedicated to the Poison Apple acting program. We’re highlighting individuals who are team players, supportive, encouraging, and inspiring to their peers! Not only that, but they embrace themselves onstage in every performance no matter the size of the role.
