From: Redmond Historical SocietyExplore Redmond's History 'Through a Poet's Eye'
Redmond, WA - This April, National Poetry Month, the Redmond Historical Society and VALA Eastside are proud to present "Through a Poet's Eye," a one-of-a-kind exhibition that intertwines history, poetry, and photography to celebrate the City of Redmond's rich past. The exhibition will be on display from April 7 to May 28, 2023, at VALA Art Center, located at 8020 161st Ave NE, #104, Redmond, WA 98052. Open hours are Sat/Sun 11:00 am-2:00 pm.
"Through a Poet's Eye" features large photographic prints accompanied by reproductions of the poems they inspired from the City of Redmond's centennial poetry anthology, 10X10. The anthology, originally published in June 2012 as part of Redmond’s Centennial Celebration, is a collaborative effort between Redmond's first Poet Laureate, Rebecca Meredith, the Redmond Arts Commission, and the Redmond Library, and highlights the City's history through the unique lens of poetry.
Visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a fusion of visual and literary art that invites them to explore Redmond's past and connect with its vibrant heritage.
An opening reception for "Through a Poet's Eye” took place on Friday, April 7, from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm at VALA Art Center. The reception was an excellent opportunity for attendees to get a first look at the exhibition and engage with fellow art and history enthusiasts.
