Get set for the “Safe Fun-Fit Lucky You 5K/10K” event, with free chip timing, this Saturday, March 11, at 7:30 a.m. at The Water’s Edge, 402 S. Shoreline Boulevard. The event is free for everyone. There will be overall and age group awards for race participants.
The “Lucky You 5K/10K” race event is sponsored by State Representative Todd Hunter, VFit Productions, and the City of Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department. The Fitness Lane route begins along the seawall at The Water’s Edge, northbound, towards the American Bank Center, with the turnaround just before the barge dock entrance. Walk, jog, run, or bike along the event’s designated 1.5-mile fitness lane (one way).
Our community partner, H-E-B, will provide fruit and water for all participants.
“Walk with a Doc" will also be offered at 8:00 a.m. Learn about the benefits of walking from Dr. Matt Bayazitoglu and Dr. Maria Narcise, who will lead two group walks and present information for children and adults. “Walk with a Doc” is offered on the second Saturday of every month.
Finally, the community can join us for a free fitness class from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Sign up today for the ‘Back to Basics Fitness’, Yoga, or Zumba class. Class sessions are limited to 30 participants per class. Participants are encouraged to bring their yoga mat and water for their workout. All participants receive a punch card to record each Saturday attended. A completed punch card of ten punches is eligible for a prize.
