From: San Diego Natural History MuseumWeed Out the Bad Stuff
Plant some native milkweed instead.
It's that time of year when female butterflies begin laying their eggs on milkweed leaves. Those leaves will eventually become the monarch caterpillars' sole food source. But not all milkweed is good for these colorful caterpillars.
For San Diego Pollinator Week, come to the south steps of The Nat (near the fountain) on May 13 at 10 AM and pick up a native milkweed plant for free! If you have a tropical milkweed plant somewhere around your yard, bring it in and exchange it for a free native milkweed plant AND free admission to the Museum. Register in advance to ensure a plant is waiting for you!
Native planting is the best!
Limit one milkweed plant per person, supplies are limited.

Preserve the Past
Plan for the future.
Here at The Nat, we’re pretty good at caring for the things we love for a really long time, so we understand just how important future planning is. And while planning for the inevitable can be overwhelming, we’re here to make it a bit less stressful.
Join us at the Museum on May 26 at 9 AM to learn about The Nat’s archival care from Research Library Director, Ariel Hammond, and estate planning basics from the experts, estate planning attorneys Danielle P. Barger and DeEtte L. Loeffler.
Attend and learn how to jumpstart your future planning.

This event is hosted by the Museum’s Legacy Giving group, the Live Oaks Society. Learn more about legacy giving and how to join here.
Museum representatives are a group of scientists, geeks, and nature enthusiasts—not lawyers. While we can direct you toward some great resources, we cannot give you legal advice. That’s what the experts are for. Please always consult an estate planning professional when it comes to your future planning.
