PRESCOTT, AZ – Who is America’s favorite fire prevention bear? It is Smokey Bear of course! To celebrate Smokey Bear’s 80th birthday, the Prescott National Forest has partnered with the Sharlot Hall Museum for a special exhibit May 21-31 in the West Gallery of the Museum’s Lawler Building.
At the heart of the exhibit are 19 replica Smokey Bear paintings on loan from the National Agricultural Library. The artist, Rudy Wendelin, worked for the Forest Service as an illustrator for many years and the exhibit features his most iconic paintings from 1977-1995.
Saturday, May 25 will be a free admission day with additional activities including a special event lecture at 2 PM about Firewise and fire prevention with local fire officials. Visit Sharlot Hall Museum’s event page for information.
