BROOMFIELD/DENVER - On December 14, 2024, Governor Polis as part of the Salvation Army's National Red Kettle Challenge, rang the bell outside of the Walmart superstore in Broomfield to raise funds for the community amidst the holiday season.

“I am happy to be in Broomfield today to help spread some holiday cheer in Colorado and raise funds for our community. The holidays can be a tough time for many families, and I am pleased to be able to join the Salvation Army in bringing extra support to help hardworking families here in Colorado and across the nation,” said Governor Polis.

The Salvation Army's Red Kettle Challenge takes place across the nation on December 14, 2024 to support hardworking families in local communities with housing support, food donations, and utilities.

Governor Polis also visited and spoke with Colorado Gold Star Families at the Governor’s Residence at Boettcher Mansion offering support and extending his gratitude to the Coloradans who lost their lives serving our country.

“As we begin to gather for the holidays, let us remember the families who have a folded flag and an empty seat at the table, and take a moment to honor the Coloradans who paid the ultimate sacrifice to keep us safe this season. I am grateful to be here today to visit with our Gold Star Families to provide support in reminding them that our state is with them every step of the way,” said Governor Polis.

Colorado Gold Star Families are immediate family members of a fallen service member, who died while serving in a time of conflict.
