MAGA Republicans in the state Senate won’t oppose the violent mobs
LANSING — On Jan 30th, Michigan Democratic state Senators passed a resolution condemning the violent mob that attempted to override the results of the free and fair election on January 6, 2020. These insurrectionists attacked law enforcement officers, caused chaos, and threatened our very democracy - yet Michigan Republicans led by Aric Nesbitt still won’t condemn what happened. Following the session, Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party Lavora Barnes released the following statement:
“Jan 30th’s outrageous proceedings showed us what we already know: Aric Nesbitt and Michigan Republicans are in lockstep with Trump’s dangerous, extremist agenda regardless of who it hurts. When law enforcement officers are assaulted and our democracy is attacked, Michigan Republicans stay silent. This should be a simple, unopposed condemnation of violence, yet Senate Republicans couldn’t manage that.
“Today clearly showed that Democrats are the only ones who will stand up to protect the safety and security of our elections, our democracy, and the law enforcement officers who vowed to do the same.”
