From: Staten Island ArtsTeaching artists of Staten Island, apply for a SU-CASA residency today!
Applications now open for 2023 SU-CASA residencies!
Staten Island Arts is pleased to offer SU-CASA, a 3-month community arts engagement program that places local artists in residence at senior centers across Staten Island. SU-CASA teaching artists engage older adults in a series of workshops and classes over the course of the residency. Each residency culminates with a public program component – exhibits, readings, performances, open houses or other cultural events open to the surrounding Staten Island community.
This initiative seeks to connect artists with older adults to positively impact the well-being of older adults through direct engagement in arts-based activities. Individual artists-in-residence receive a stipend of $6,000 and an additional $2,000 materials/supplies budget. Individual artists may apply for up to two SU-CASA residencies but must submit two separate residency applications to be considered. Priority will be given to artists working in movement-based expression, visual arts - photography and filmmaking, watercolor painting, calligraphy, drawing class with charcoal and artists who are bilingual in East-Asian languages and English.
