From: State Historical Society of North DakotaJamestown, ND - Winter hours begin Jan. 3 for the Stutsman County Courthouse State Historic Site, 504 Third Ave. SE, Jamestown. The site will be open Wednesdays through Fridays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through May 23.
Built in 1883, the historic Stutsman County Courthouse is home to a unique hands-on exhibit about civics and local government. It is North Dakota's oldest surviving courthouse and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Visitors can explore the courtroom, county offices, and the basement jail; learn about American citizenship where it happened, in a community's local courthouse; discover historical office technology; and witness historic preservation in action as restoration of the courthouse has been ongoing since the 1990s.
The Stutsman County Courthouse is a state historic site managed by the State Historical Society of North Dakota. The site is open additional hours by appointment during the winter months.
