HAPPY SPRING... almost.

Here is a recap of what we've been up to this year so far and what we have coming up!

POLAR PLUNGE

Our year began with a bang this year - literally - as our team worked hard to break up the large chunks ice that covered Camden harbor in order to make our 7th annual polar plunge as part of Camden Winterfest possible. Despite the subzero temperatures, it was our biggest turnout ever, raising nearly $5,000 to support our organization! Thanks to all the brave individuals from near and far who came to make this happen!

Our top fundraiser, Heidi from Livermore Falls, even went in for another dip before she left Camden! She quoted, "Before my departure from Camden, I went in for another dip... although it was much warmer on Sunday!"

We can't wait to host this again next year!

WINTERY MIX FEBRUARY BREAK PROGRAM

Next up for us was our Wintery Mix February Break program. This program, for 4th, 5th, and 6th graders, was invigorating, as students braved very cold daily temperatures, not to mention a snowstorm the night before the first day in order to learn outdoor skills and meet new friends. We even had a participant all the way from Brooklyn, New York!

Despite the small group and challenging weather conditions, Maine Sport Outfitters Guide Cameron noted the camaraderie and positive energy from the group as they all still had a great time! But hey, that's winter in Maine!

WINTERY MIX 5-WEEK AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

We're through week #3 of our Wintery Mix 5-Week after school program for 5th-7th graders. Participants have spent a week each cross country skiing, ice fishing, and most recently worked on a service project with Midcoast Habitat for Humanity and hiked to Maidens Cliff.

They have two more weeks of outdoor adventure before the final challenge: An overnight winter expedition!

Follow along on our instagram page for more photos of their adventures!

WHAT'S NEXT?

Our spring programs are right around the corner!

This year, we will be running a Canoeing, Hiking, and Camp Craft program for 4th-6th graders guided by MountainSea Expeditions and a Kayaking, Fishing, and Climbing program for 5th-7th graders guided by Maine Sport Outfitters and Hurricane Island Outward Bound School.

We hope to see you out there!
