From: City of ValdezThe Valdez Fire Department is recruiting volunteer firefighters to serve our community! Volunteer firefighting is one of the most rewarding experiences you’ll have! As a volunteer firefighter, you help the community and are a more visible community member. Your work in the community directly impacts the people you know and work with daily, giving your work a stronger sense of purpose and positively impacting those in your life.

Before attending the 2023 Firefighter I Academy, approved volunteers must complete the Hazardous Materials Class scheduled in March. This class is free for approved volunteers.
Hazardous Materials Class Schedule
Sunday, March 12, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Friday, March 17, 6 p.m. – 10 p.m.
Saturday, March 18, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Sunday, March 19, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Friday, March 24, 6 – 10 p.m.
Saturday, March 25, 9 – 5 p.m.
Volunteers must attend all Hazardous Materials classes to qualify for the Firefighter I Academy.
Valdez Fire Department will offer Firefighter Training I Academy weekly from May 8 to July 29. The class schedule is as follows: Mondays and Wednesdays from 7 – 10 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
