From: Barbes
We can safely call this a historical event. Two of the most influential bands in the international cumbia revolution playing together in NY's first ever Cumbia festival.
MERIDIAN BROTHERS from Bogota, has been reinventing and redefining Colombian music for almost two decades - adding electro-acoustic and psychedelia to its quirky mix and influencing countless musicians around the world.
SON ROMPE PERA, from Mexico City, has been updating their father's marimba tradition with hardcore and rockabilly, claiming that "Cumbia is the New Punk."
Both bands have played Barbès on some of their previous tours, but this time, we needed to host this at a much larger venue...Elsewhere is ten times larger...
This is an extension of our long-running Tropical Vortex series.
BUY YOUR TICKETS NOW! The event will probably sell out.
